The Malaysian Contingent for the World Youth Chess Championship 2010 ( WYCC 2010 ) in Porto Carras Resort, Halkidiki, Greece from 19th – 31st October 2010

The World Youth Chess Championship 2010 ( WYCC 2010 ) is organized and will be held in Porto Carras Resort, Halkidiki, Greece from 19th – 31st October 2010. This event is a measure for all junior chess players in the world within their own age – group category. The WYCC offers youth a platform to not only pit their skills in chess but also to compete against some of the best junior players from around the world.

The Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) is pleased to announced that Malaysia will be sending it’s best juniors for the World Youth Chess Championship 2010. The Malaysian Contingent will be represented by 15 junior players with 1 Head Of Delegation, and 11 accompanying parents. The Malaysian players are comprised of 15 Juniors aged between 7 to 16 years old and they will be competing at their respectives age- group categories. The following players have qualified by virtue of being champion of their respectives age-group categories in The National Age-Group Chess Championship held in early March this year.

We would like to highlight that, in our contingent, we have selected the most talented young players in Malaysia and some have been performing well in various international events.

We hope through this 1 MALAYSIA effort , we would be able to compete and realized our mission to do the country proud .

FIDE PRESIDENT KIRSAN IIYUMZHINOV COURTESY VISIT TO MALAYSIA

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov (also the President of Republic of Kalmykia, Russia ) will be making a short courtesy visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 27th August 2010 and he will be accompanied by FIDE General Secretary Mr Ignatius Leong and Mr. Berik Balgabaev.

As part of his day program , he will be visiting the various Ministries in Malaysia which includes a Courtesy call on Y.A.B Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Youth And Sports Minister at his Ministry office at Putrajaya, Courtesy call on Yang Mulia Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, President of Olympic Council Of Malaysia at the OCM office in Kuala Lumpur.

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov (photo left) will be the Guest of Honour during the Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Malaysian Chess Delegation to the World Youth Chess Championship 2010 in Greece. MCF President Tan Sri Ramli Bin Ngah Talib will be present for the ceremony together with other federation officials and other invited guest.
